If someone said the word “yoke” you’d probably think of the yellow part of an egg. But that’s a “yolk”. (We never said we won any spelling bees in school.)
So what the heck is a yoke? In the days of Jesus, it was a kind of harness for oxen to pull a cart or farming equipment. Isn’t that how life can sometimes feel? Like an uphill both ways in the snow kind of drudgery?
But Jesus offered a solution:
"Come to me all who are weary and tired. I will give you rest. My yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
I don’t know about you, but I’m going to start taking my yokes easy from now on.
