My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus' blood and righteousness I dare not trust the sweetest frame But wholly lean on Jesus' name
These are the opening lyrics to the great 19th century hymn “My Hope is Built on Nothing Less” and it’s a throwback to the Parable of the Wise and Foolish Builders.
Would you rather build a house on sand or rock? It probably doesn’t make much of a difference… until you experience your first thunderstorm. The rain would turn that sand into mud and your house would be washed away. But rock is permanent, secure, and safe. Even the fiercest flood isn’t going to turn rock to mud.
Everyone has to build a house. Make sure yours is on solid rock.
