In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus called us dirt. We can either be empty, rocky, or thorny… or we are good soil.
Birds won’t come along because good soil keeps the seed safe and buried. Rocks can’t get in the way because good soil allows the seed to take root. Thorns don’t choke us because good soil protects the seed from danger.
Good soil takes hold of the seed of the gospel and yields fruit a hundred, sixty, or thirty times what was sown.
